Earlier this month, Marne and I flew to Paris and then to London to attend tradeshows for work. On the day we arrived, we had plans to meet up with two of Marne’s friends who happened to also be visiting Paris. As we waited in the rain in a park near our hotel, my head foggy with lack of sleep, I saw a tall, handsome man walk into the park. He was wearing exactly what Andy had been wearing when we’d said goodbye before I left. I figured this was one of those hallucinations you see in the movies, that I’d blink and he’d suddenly look like a complete stranger.

I blinked. I tilted my head. It was still Andy. I have never been so surprised in my whole life and it was wonderful. My amazing boyfriend got a passport, packed a backpack one item at a time when I wasn’t looking, bought plane tickets a month or two in advance, and got on a plane two hours after mine left to surprise me in Paris.

We had time that day and in the evenings after the show to be tourists and appreciate how completely beautiful the city is. We saw the Louvre and Napoleon Courtyard, Notre Dame, the Tuileries, the Arc de Triumphe, and lots of nice lookin’ bridges. Paris is not a great place for vegans (those cheese covered hot dogs are, of course, not veganable) but there are a few vegetarian and vegan restaurants available and Andy and I visited one of them. The rest of the time I was hungry.

Posts coming soon: very few pictures from London and another(!) surprise in Paris.
